Why don't the RSS feeds include my memorable phrase?

The purpose of the memorable phrase is to provide a unique, easy to remember phrase which Stay Smart Online Alert Service (SSO) subscribers can use to check that the alerts and advisories and other information received via email are genuine, ie they are really from SSO.

If you receive a Stay Smart Online alert or advisory, or other email, it is important to check that it includes your unique memorable phrase which you created when you first subscribed to the service.

If it does, then this is a sign that it was probably sent via the SSO web portal and that you can trust and rely on the contents.  It does not provide a guarantee that an attacker has not modified the content prior to, or after it is received on your computer, but it is unlikely an attacker would attempt to modify an existing SSO alert or advisory that includes your unique memorable passphrase.

RSS feeds are automatically drawn from content on this web site.  Therefore, it is not necessary to include the unique memorable phrase to check the authenticity of the feed.  This can be achieved by comparing the content of the RSS feed with the content of the Alerts and Advisories on the Stay Smart Online Alert Service web site.
